China growth outpaced Asia

From 2018 to 2023, the top ten Chinese banks saw their private banking AUM grow by 116%, reaching RMB 20,858 billion.

This growth rate outperformed the 42% increase in Asia ex-China onshore AUM among the top ten Asian players over the same period.

Similarly, between 2018 and 2023, the private banking client count at China’s top ten private banks more than doubled, growing 105% to 1.4 million.

The number of private banking clients in China consistently increased yearly, with 2020 marking the most significant YoY increase of 28%.
