Best-in-class providers of structured product solutions in Asia are chosen based on the results of a comprehensive survey of private banking product gatekeepers and investment advisory heads, and subsequent interviews with shortlisted providers.
Survey contributors are asked to nominate two providers across asset classes, structures and services. For categories related to product manufacturing, contributors are asked to rate their nominations based on four key competencies: (1) pricing competitiveness; (2) innovation and structuring capabilities; (3) client services; (4) market share. Those providers that register the highest number of votes and ratings are shortlisted and invited to pitch for the award.
Pricing competitiveness
This quantitative metric is used to assess the pricing competitiveness of a provider for a specific award category. Participants are asked to assess candidates based on the frequency and volume by which the provider has outpriced market competitors on the same structured product.
Innovation and structuring capabilities
This qualitative metric is used to assess a provider’s ability to demonstrate innovation and structuring capabilities. Participants are asked to assess candidates based on demonstrated cases of delivering a relevant range and on the flexibility of pay-off structures and underliers.
Client services
This qualitative metric is used to assess a provider’s ability to provide client services to support distribution. Participants are asked to assess candidates based on the effectiveness of their services to support pre- and post-trade distribution needs — including, but not limited to product life-cycle management, research and advisory support, and marketing or training events.
Market share
This quantitative metric is used to determine the provider’s penetration of the broader private banking market. It is based on the penetration of both individual private banks and total private banking structured product volumes in Asia in order to assess both the breadth and depth of business coverage.
