While many in the industry faced a challenging 2022, Citi Private Bank enjoyed a record-breaking year for onboarding clients in the Hong Kong market. That growth was in no small part down to Citi taking the opportunity to showcase its values to clients during the market turbulence. But the role of Horace Yip, Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area head, in those achievements should not go unrecognised, said Daniel Shane, editor of Asian Private Banker.

In 2022, Yip added the role of head of Greater Bay Area to his Hong Kong duties, where he has been in charge since 2018. This expanded role means he is responsible for Hong Kong and the mainland China South and West markets. More importantly, the new role reflects the increased interconnectivity between Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, as well as the opportunities for Citi Private Bank as it is attracting a greater share of this market.
