Best International Private Bank – Taiwan

Sabrina Chen

head of HSBC Global Private Banking, Taiwan

We are honoured to have won Best International Private Bank – Taiwan. HSBC Global Private Banking is the only international private bank that offers insurance and digital services in Taiwan. We provide tailored lending solutions such as Lombard lending to deepen our client relationships.

To be the best wealth manager in Taiwan, we are committed to investing in our people, platform and capabilities. With HSBC’s cross-business expertise and unrivalled international connectivity, we can support our clients wherever they go.

This accolade shows that we are heading in the right direction, and that we will go above and beyond to bring the best services to clients.

What was behind the judges’ decision?

  • HSBC Global Private Banking in Taiwan has drawn on the strength of the group’s renowned capabilities in capital markets and investment solutions to bring a truly international proposition to the onshore market. In terms of the former, this includes research views on 1,400 individual stocks and more than 800 bonds. The investment solutions comprise discretionary mandates, a plethora of hedge funds and mobile trading of unit trusts
  • The UK lender’s decision to beef up its front office team onshore is already flowing through at the top line. Its 30% increase in headcount has resulted in a similar jump in revenue. The appointment of a dedicated credit advisor has meant that HSBC Global Private Banking has been able to provide more tailored lending that closely aligns with clients’ investment objectives
  • HSBC Global Private Banking is the only international private bank to offer digital services to HNW clients — ranging from payment transfers, to placement of equities and fund orders through the lender’s mobile app

What we said

HSBC Global Private Banking has invested heavily in its product offering, digital infrastructure and talent acquisition in Taiwan’s onshore wealth market, reflecting its priority at a global level. That investment is clearly paying dividends, with the bank enjoying marked increases in account openings, net new money and revenue in Taiwan, despite difficult underlying market conditions, said Daniel Shane, editor of Asian Private Banker.

Asian Private Banker would like to congratulate everyone at HSBC Global Private Banking on their success in the category of Best International Private Bank – Taiwan at the 12th Awards for Distinction, the region’s premier industry awards programme.
