“The FF ASEAN Fund was launched in October 1990 and invests primarily in equities of companies listed or traded in the Association of South East Asian Nations bloc. The fund invests at least 50% of its assets in securities of companies with favourable environmental, social and governance (ESG) characteristics,” said Twinkle Sparta, associate editor, Asian Private Banker.

“The fund has delivered excess returns of 1.2% and 0.1% against the benchmark (MSCI AC ASEAN Index) net of fees for the Y-ACC-USD version of the strategy for the year-to-date and 1-year periods, as of 31 August 2023. Over a longer horizon, the fund has outperformed the benchmark over three years, five years, and since its inception.

“The strategy has attracted renewed focus from private banks as they increasingly seek Asia ex-China solutions. The firm has a large and dedicated global investment network, totalling 541 investment and sustainable investing resources, which provide a significant competitive advantage in idea generation and sector/country-level analysis – particularly as ASEAN is an under-researched universe.”
