J.P. Morgan Asset Management has taken home the Asian Private Banker’s award for Best Fund Provider – ASEAN Equity thanks to the robust long-term track record of the JPMorgan ASEAN Equity Fund.

Over the last 10 years ending 31 August 2022, the strategy achieved an annualised excess return of 3.6% over the MSCI AC ASEAN 10/40 index, and 3.21% excess returns since its launch in September 2009.

For its ASEAN Equity strategy, the investment team has sought to bring together the best equity ideas in Southeast Asia. The portfolio seeks to invest in long-term compounders and domestic champions with attractive growth prospects. These stocks are rigorously selected from a vibrant and diverse pool of businesses in a non-homogeneous region where long-term structural positives continue to remain intact.

The strategy makes the most of the expertise of its Emerging Markets & Asia Pacific Equities research platform, which uses a common research process and employs a bottom-up stock selection approach alongside top-down macro considerations, complemented with the solid on-the-ground experience and local knowledge of its investment professionals.

The JPMorgan ASEAN Equity Fund draws on the research expertise of a dedicated team of five ASEAN investment professionals with an average 17 years of industry experience. The country specialists and sector analysts ensure high conviction in investment ideas, covering almost 170 stocks within the ASEAN region.

Also, in what was a challenging year for ASEAN on account of rising global macro uncertainties, J.P. Morgan Asset Management managed to expand the scale of its private banking distribution in 2022.

For these reasons, J.P. Morgan Asset Management wins Best Fund Provider – ASEAN Equity in Asian Private Banker’s 2023 Asset Management Awards for Excellence.
